The first The Housemaid film may have just been released in theaters, but with the trilogy sitting right on the shelves of Frieda McFadden fans, they couldn't resist asking whether they can expect the sequel soon enough.

In a recent interview with TODAY, The Housemaid director Paul Feig (A Simple Favor and Bridesmaids) expressed interest in returning for a sequel, which pretty much means that The Housemaid 2 is in good hands, should it come to fruition, as well.

"Millie is not done," Feig teased, seemingly implying that a sequel will most likely happen should the first movie become a successful venture.

Sydney Sweeney, who played Millie, has her own input on what to expect in the sequel: "We kind of get a taste of where Millie goes and what's going on. But I want Nina to come back into her life. I feel like Millie really needs Nina."

Does The Housemaid Movie Have a Post-Credit Scene? Ending Explained

Post-credit scenes don't only contain bloopers and extra messages; in modern times, these usually indicate teasers or cliffhangers that could only ever be addressed in the sequel.

In The Housemaid's case, however, there are no post-credit scenes to look out for. Instead, the film's conclusion itself indicates a plot twist and what it means for The Housemaid 2.

In the end, the big twist is that Millie used to be in jail for murdering a man who tried to rape her roommate when she was in high school. Considering Millie's history, she was never guilty of turning the tables on Andrew.

Nina, on the other hand, felt guilty, despite the abusive relationship she had with Andrew. As much as she wanted to help him out of the attic room, this only led to a fight between the three of them on top of the stairs, ending with Andrew falling to his death.

After shockingly escaping the police's arrest (after another witness confirmed Andrew's abusive behavior), we see Millie interviewing once again to be another family's housemaid, which leads us to the next big question:

McFadden's sequel, The Housemaid's Secret, follows Millie as she takes another housekeeping job for the wealthy but mysterious Garrick couple.

Similar to how she lived with Nina and Andrew, Millie is on the case of uncovering the family's darkest secrets, which includes Mrs. Garrick's abuse and confinement in their own penthouse.

Millie is once again faced to intervene with the abusive husband, Douglas, which unsurprisingly leads to another batch of plot twists and dangerous confrontations while still keeping her own secrets and background hidden from them.
