After several delays, it looks like Ezra Miller's The Flash movie is finally slated to come out. And now that the movie is getting released next week, we can't help but ask: how long is The Flash movie?
In addition to answering how long is The Flash's runtime, we'll also be talking about what the upcoming movie is about and who will be in it.
Here's what we know about The Flash movie right now.
When Is The Flash Movie Coming Out? How Long Is It?
The Flash movie is slated to come out on June 16, 2023.
Although it hasn't been officially confirmed by Warner Bros. yet, there are reports that the movie will have a runtime of two hours and 35 minutes (or 155 minutes).
This was shared by insider KC Walsh. But this was debunked on Twitter by The Flash Film News, who said the movie is shorter than 150 minutes.
Still, this would make The Flash movie one of the longest DCEU movies of all time. It would join the top five longest DCEU movies, which include:
- Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021) - 4 hours, 2 minutes
- Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) - 2 hours, 32 minutes
- Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) - 2 hours, 31 minutes
- Man of Steel (2013) and Aquaman (2018) - 2 hours, 23 minutes
We're unsure which rank The Flash will be on. If the film reaches 155 minutes, it would definitely be the second longest DCEU film to date.
DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has repeatedly said that The Flash movie is "one of the best superhero movies [ever]." With this, we can expect the film to have a long runtime.
What Is The Flash Movie About?
If there's one thing we know about the multiverse travel, it's that you should never mess with its timeline. And this is what we see in The Flash movie.
We learned that Flash traveled through time to stop his mom from getting murdered. But unknowingly, he created disastrous series of events.
The Flash movie is based on the series of events of the Flashpoint event that happens in the DC Comics. In the comics, Flash meets different versions of Superman and Batman as he struggles to stop the multiverse from falling apart due to his interference.
Warner Bros.' official synopsis of The Flash plot reads:
"Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?"
The film is directed by Andy Muschietti.
Who Stars in The Flash?
Despite several petitions to remove Ezra Miller from the titular role, the studio has continued to support him through his troubles. At CinemaCon, Muschietti talked about the troubled star and shared:
"They're taking the steps to recovery. Ezra is dealing with mental health issues, but they're well. We talked to them not too long ago, and they're very committed to getting better."
This is the third/fourth time Miller is reprising his role as Barry Allen/The Flash in the DC Universe.
Apart from Miller, the other stars that will be in the movie include the following:
- Kiersey Clemon (as Iris West)
- Ben Affleck (as Bruce Wayne/Batman)
- Sasha Calle (as Supergirl)
- Temuera Morrison (as Tom Curry)
- Michael Keaton (as Bruce Wayne/Batman)
- Ron Livingston (as Henry Allen)
