Fans have a lot of high hopes for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which is expected to be the first original Marvel series on Disney+ if it makes the August release this year. This is not only a direct follow-up to Avengers: Endgame, with this series, basically being a bridge for Falcon to become All-New Captain America for the MCU. It will also give us an interesting duo in Cap's former sidekicks, which Winter Soldier Sebastian Stan has described as Lethal Weapon-esque.
Speaking with The Direct, he points out how Falcon actor Anthony Mackie is a riot to work with and is smart enough to bring the best out of him. Stan has a lot of nice things to say about the dynamic between the two, before comparing Bucky and Sam's relationship to Martin Riggs and Roger Murtagh from Lethal Weapon. Honestly, we can't wait to see what this series has to offer for MCU fans.
"We've had a lot of fun. Anthony is a riot to work with. He really brings the best and the worst out of me. And I just love and I hate him at the same time. But that's our dynamic, and I think it was so fun to finally get the time to really explore that with him, because we only had a couple of scenes across the movies. We really got to dive into that relationship, and it's super fun, I mean in terms of very much that Lethal Weapon world."
Considering how these two basically hated each other during Captain America: Civil War, it will be fun seeing the tension between Cap's good friends. Both characters clearly care about the legacy of Steve Rogers and though the man gave his shield to Sam, it's clear that he has a lot of thinking to do before taking up the mantle. Baron Zemo escaping also doesn't help things.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will reportedly come out this August.
