For a series where characters die left and right, the Deep (Chace Crawford) has managed to survive until the current season of The Boys.
With the Deep starting out as a sex offender, he’s steadily evolved to becoming the literal joke about ‘Aquaman f*cking fish.’ Crawford talks a bit about the first time he read that his character was supposed to make it with an octopus and how it almost gave him a panic attack.
The Boys: The Deep and Octopus Sex
It was back in Season 3 of The Boys when it was hinted that The Deep would be sexually attracted to octopi. It starts in Vought Tower when he has sex with his wife, then he suddenly fixates on the octopus in the aquarium and starts talking dirty to it.
Then, everything comes full circle at Herogasm when the Deep finds an octopus and is caught by Starlight having his way with it. After the whole altercation with Soldier Boy, the Deep runs off with the octopus in a plastic bag, and in Season 4 of The Boys, it’s revealed that he’s secretly keeping it as a pet in his closet.
Reading about the Octopus Sex Scene for the First Time
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Crawford explained that he almost got a panic attack the first time he read that he had to have sex with an octopus on camera. He says, “I was in total denial about it. And then it got 24 hours out from the first day I had to shoot it, and I almost had a panic attack.”
Despite Crawford’s concerns about doing the scene, he says things went down smoothly when they shot it. “Just the act of picking up the octopus and getting a wet octopus in the bed was so funny and weird,” he said.
Crawford was also concerned with how naked he had to be for the scene, and it looked like all he needed to show was his butt. It’s not likely they had to put a real octopus on his junk for the scene.
The Deep’s New Squeeze
For the fourth season of The Boys, the Deep continues to prove himself as one of the slowest members of the Seven. The season has also established that he’s keeping a secret octopus in his room—which will probably be a set-up for something big.
Besides Deep doing it with an octopus, one of the sickest scenes in Season 3 involved Homelander forcing Deep to eat his friend Timothy.
With characters like A-Train starting to move against The Seven, it’s possible that the Deep could be next. Besides him being constantly bullied by Homelander, it’s possible that the discovery of his octopus could force him into a rough decision that could change the tide in the war against supes.
