Though Ben Affleck's tenure in the DC Extended Universe has been largely uncertain, the most recent rumors regarding the award-winning filmmaker say that the Batman star has been expressing interest in reprising his role as the Dark Knight in Matt Reeve's The Batman.
Earlier this week, paparazzi photos of Affleck showed him taking some time off his rehab to visit Warner Brothers' offices and shots of the actor showed the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star carrying with him a stack of papers which we can only assume to be part of a script.
Today, it seems like Affleck has fully exited from the alcohol rehab center and has decided to release an official statement on his addiction treatment and his rehabilitation on Instagram.
In his post, Affleck talks about completing his forty-day rehabilitation and thanks to his family, friends, colleagues, and fans for the support that they've given him.
"Battling any addiction is a lifelong and difficult struggle. Because of that, one is never really in or out of treatment. It is a full-time commitment," the actor and director writes in his post. "I am fighting for myself and for my family. So many people have reached out on social media and spoken about their own journeys with addiction. To those people, I want to say thank you. Your strength is inspiring and is supporting me in ways I didn't think was possible. It helps to know I am not alone."
This is definitely great news for DC fans. Though Batman v Superman wasn't quite the critical success that Warner Brothers had hoped it would be, a lot of fans loved Affleck's Batman, saying it was the most comic book accurate version of the Dark Knight on the big screen.
Now that Affleck has finished his rehab course and is setting his life straight, the actor has room to reprise his role as the Caped Crusader one more time for The Batman.
The Batman has yet to receive a release date but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
