The Creator is one of the most compelling sci-fi films you have to see this year. Now that the film is available to watch in theaters, we can't help but ask will there be a The Creator 2?
Here's what we know about the possibility of a sequel.
Will There Be a The Creator Sequel?
Gareth Edwards, the co-writer/director of The Creator, created a beautiful new world to fall in love with. The sci-fi film has all the markings of a potential franchise blockbuster.
With many people already looking forward to watching The Creator in cinemas, we can't help but ask if a sequel is being planned at this point.
Unfortunately, it seems to be something the director is not planning in the future. In an interview with Screen Rant, Edwards said:

"We had a lot of material. We shot a lot. And okay, so look, I would love to go back to this world. There are so many things I didn't get to do that I would just absolutely love to do. But my girlfriend's a massive, when we sit and we have some dinner or something, let's watch something. She wants to watch TV shows. I want to watch films.
And the other day I was like, "Well, what's your problem? What's going on here?" And I thought about it. I was like endings, my favorite part of the story is the end. My favorite part of a joke is the punchline. And so I just want it to be this self-contained thing. So I mean, it's a high class problem. If someone ever came up and said, "We want a sequel." That'd be a really good problem to have. But thatās not on my agenda. Iām not really interested in doing that. Itās a one-off movie.ā
When is The Creator 2 Coming Out?
Right now, Edwards isn't planning on creating a sequel for The Creator. He also says this is a one-off movie.
The director also joked that if the studio asks him to turn The Creator into a trilogy, he could change his mind and say the film was "always meant to be a trilogy" instead of a one-off film.

The Creator 2 Plot
If Edwards decides to create a sequel to The Creator, it would be interesting to make a prequel instead. This way, we'll get more information about Maya (played by Gemma Chan) and Joshua's (played by John David Washington) relationship.
Since we're also digging into the past, it would be good to see how the war between AI and humans first came up.
But then again, we're simply guessing here. Since the director does not have any plans to create a sequel, we'll have to wait for one to be announced in the distant future.
