The Book of Boba Fett is finally getting the comic book adaptation treatment, nearly five years after the first episode premiered on Disney+.
The Mandalorian spinoff series received divisive reactions when it aired from late 2021 to early 2022, but fans are still hoping that it will get a second season or be revisited in another project to continue Boba Fett and Fennec Shand's adventure in the galaxy far, far away.
Now, the series is finally being revisited as a comic book adaptation is set to release later this year.
What to Expect in The Book of Boba Fett Comic Adaptation
It was recently announced that Marvel will be releasing a seven-issue comic book adaptation of The Book of Boba Fett. Each issue will adapt the corresponding episode of the series, which has seven episodes.
Rodney Barnes, who worked on the comic adaptations of The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, will write the comic The Book of Boba Fett, and it will be illustrated by Will Sliney, who worked on The Rise of Skywalker comic adaptation.
Barnes said of his involvement in the comic adaptation of the Disney+ series, "I’ve loved Boba Fett since early childhood! Adapting this series has been a complete joy, and I can’t wait for Star Wars fans to read it!"
Scheduled for launch on September 9, the first issue features a main cover by Alex Maleev alongside variant covers from E.M. Gist, Jerry Ordway, Pete Woods, and Rickie Yagawa.
The synopsis reads: "BOBA FETT HOLDS COURT AND FACES NEW CHALLENGES ON TATOOINE! After escaping from the Sarlacc Pit, Boba Fett has taken over Jabba the Hutt’s syndicate—but does he have what it takes to keep Tatooine in order?"
The first two seasons of The Mandalorian and the first season of Ahsoka have already been adapted into comic books. Now, fans are waiting to see if other Star Wars live-action shows will be getting the same treatment in the future.
What Next for the Star Wars Franchise on Television

Fans can look forward to the release of the second season of Ahsoka. It is currently slated to premiere on Disney+ in early 2027. The main cast from the first season is set to return.
Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord recently ended its first season to acclaim from fans and critics. A second season is currently in the works.
There is no word yet on whether Lucasfilm will develop more new Star Wars live-action shows in the future, especially in the aftermath of the new leadership in the studio.
It also remains unknown whether there are plans to develop a fourth season of The Mandalorian following the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu.
