In an interview on The Breakfast Club (via EW), Davidson opened up about the media attention that he received when he dated high-profile celebrities and his reputation for having a "big dick energy."
While he found the label to be funny at first, it eventually affected how he navigates his relationships, and he found that moment to be "traumatic" today.
"It just got to a point where I was... I got really tired of my whole career just being like my personal life. And living through that is sort of traumatic. Like, not to be like lame, but it's traumatic to live in your own crap all the time," the comedian admitted.
Davidson explained why he had discomfort with his reputation for having a "big dick."
"You know, on paper, that sounds great. It's embarrassing, 'cause, you know, it's Hollywood. Everybody f***s everyone. Why are they focusing on me?" he said.
Davidson also reflected on how the tabloid headlines affected his atmosphere on Saturday Night Live.
"I brought a lot of pop culture into the show, like I made it sort of tabloidy, trendy thing unintentionally. Also, I was embarrassed by it because no one talked about any work I was doing. They were just like, 'Oh, that's the f*** stick.' And that hurt so much," he said.
He also recalled that his family and colleagues in the show noticed that he was "sad" and "embarrassed" about the media attention that he was receiving.

Davidson is also delighted about "being able to take care of something and show it the childhood I didn't have. I assume you just try to give them what you didn't have, and what you didn't like, not do it."
