The Bachelorette is set to skip airing a new season this summer, making it the first time in three years to not premiere during the season.
There has been a lot of anticipation already for the next season of the hit ABC reality series which has been traditionally part of the network's summer slate, but that is no longer the case this year.
The Bachelorette is Not Scheduled to Air New Season This Summer
Reports have confirmed that ABC is not scheduled to air a new season of The Bachelorette this coming summer.
Normally, the series will start production around this time ahead of its supposed premiere in the summer, but that is no longer the case and it remains to be seen when it will begin filming.
Instead, season 10 of Bachelor in Paradise (which notably did not air a new season last year) will be taking the summer spot and is slated to be the next Bachelor Nation show to air after the current season of The Bachelor.
This won't be the first time that The Bachelorette will be skipping a calendar year as they didn't air a new season in 2006 and 2007, but ABC did not officially pull the plug at that time.
Is The Bachelorette Already Canceled?
While the series will not be airing a new season this summer, ABC has not pulled the plug on The Bachelorette and they are committed to continue airing new seasons sometime in the future.
Insiders have also not ruled out the possibility of airing a new season this coming fall, but that is unlikely for now.
Fans should not worry about the future of the series as nothing indicates that the Bachelor Nation franchise is in danger and this is more of a scheduling issue as the network is jampacked with many shows.
There will also not be any shortage of Bachelor Nation shows for the year as each season is slated to have at least one program from the franchise.
For now, fans should look out for news and updates regarding the future of The Bachelorette in the coming months and, hopefully, we'll hear more details about its return soon.
