In a recent interview with Collider, Sylvester Stallone shared that he already has an ending in mind for Dwight Manfredi in the potential final episode of Tulsa King in the future.
He revealed that his character will likely not face his demise, taking inspiration from some of the real-life gangsters in history.
"I think that Dwight… Everything ends dour, especially with a gangster. They go insane. Al Capone, this guy gets shot… No, I don’t. I believe that he has a good finale. One that says, 'As bad as I was, I did enough good things to counter that,'" the actor said.
"There was a famous gangster named Owney Madden, who was 10,000 times worse than Al Capone, and finally, he realized his days were numbered. He went to a place called Hot Springs, Arkansas, in 1925, became the mayor, lived a life, and built a gangster's museum. I mean, we actually shot a few episodes about that."
Stallone added, "But I think that if you're smart, you can do that. It's happened a few times. Frank Costello. They know. It’s like an athlete; you're gonna get it if you don't leave, or you're gonna be the same, like Quiet Ray, or you just belong to this horrible, stupid, the same shit over and over until you're 85, and you die, and you're buried in some dump. No. I just see Dwight accomplishing, taking care of his little family, and then figuring something else out. But no, I'm very opposed to heroes dying. I just don't like it."
It looks like fans can now expect a happy ending for Dwight Manfredi when the series ends in the future, given that Stallone has publicly expressed his opposition to killing off his character.
The Tulsa King star's ideal ending would be in contrast to the fate of iconic characters such as Walter White, who notably died in the final episode of Breaking Bad, or Tony Soprano from The Sopranos, whose fate in the end was ambiguous on screen, though it's been interpreted that he likely died.
What to Expect in Tulsa King Season 4
In the fourth season of Tulsa King, Dwight Manfredi fights to legitimize his empire and protect his crew as corrupt politicians, dangerous new enemies, and a crushing personal loss hit from every direction.
However, every hard-won gain comes with even harder truths about loyalty, leadership, and the cost of ambition. Each move drags Dwight deeper into the street instincts he left behind in New York, turning Tulsa into a battleground and Dwight into the one threat no one can afford to underestimate.
The cast includes Sylvester Stallone, Martin Starr, Jay Will, Vincent Piazza, Annabella Sciorra, Chris Caldovino, McKenna Quigley Harrington, Frank Grillo, Mike "Cash Flo" Walden, James Russo, Kevin Pollak, Neal McDonough, Garrett Hedlund, Dana Delany, and Gretchen Mol.
The fourth season will premiere on Friday, October 16, on Paramount+.
