After projects like Immaculate and Anyone But You, Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney has proven herself to be one of the hardest-working actresses in the industry today. While her image has pretty much been consistent throughout her filmography, Sweeney just shared her huge body transformation for a movie centered on pro-boxer Christy Martin.
The film has no title yet, but there’s a pretty good reason that Sweeney agreed to take on the role—it sounds like the story of a lifetime.

The movie hasn’t been officially revealed yet, but Sweeney has already shared a photo of her gains while getting in shape to play Martin. Check this out:
Though Sweeney has pretty much always played the more demure girl in previous films, she’s going full buff for this role, seeing that she has to have a body of a pro-boxer. Here’s her caption on the shared photos:

It’s not clear when there’ll be an official reveal for the film yet, but it does look like the movie is currently in the middle of production.
Who is Christy Martin?
Christy Martin was a female boxer who was most prominent around the 90s, and her boxing career spanned over 20 years — from 1989 all the way to 2012.
Martin made history as the first woman to be ever inducted into the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame, and in 2020, he was inducted into the International Hall of Fame.
She was also considered to be a trailblazer for women in the sport of boxing, earning the WBC female super welterweight title in 2009, but she was already turning heads in the ring throughout her career.
Here’s The Crazy Part
While the story of Martin breaking stereotypes for women is enough to be an interesting story, in 2010 came a pretty shocking incident when her former husband James Martin stabbed her several times and shot her in the torso, leaving her for dead. There was also the case of Martin getting addicted to drugs around that time because of her husband-coach.
There was even a docuseries that came out on Netflix back in 2021 covering Martin’s story called Untold: Deal with the Devil:
It’s not clear how much of the 2010 scene is going to be covered in the film, but it’s no doubt one of the most shocking parts of Martin’s story. It was probably even more amazing to think that she was still boxing two years after the incident.
Not much has been revealed about the movie yet, but tragic sports movies have become a thing recently, especially with last year’s release of The Iron Claw. Hopefully more gets revealed about this Christy Martin biopic soon.
