A new Supernatural spinoff, The Winchesters, is coming, but is Jensen Ackles ready to do a revival of the series he and Jared Padelecki made famous?
Supernatural is the longest-running American live-action fantasy series of all time after running for 15 seasons. It started on The CW in 2005, still known as The WB back then. As it ended in 2020, would fans see Jensen Ackles in the world of the Winchesters again?
Jensen Ackles Open to Return to Supernatural World
In an interview with CinePOP for The Boys Season 3, Jensen Ackles revealed why he and Jared Padelecki drew back from Supernatural.
After playing the roles of Sam and Dean for the series for 15 years, the 44-year-old star revealed it was time that they both do other things.
The show had defined their careers for one and a half decades, so it was the right time for them to spread their wings and fly away.
However, the two didn’t close their doors to returning to a possible Supernatural revival.
"I don’t think Jared and I hung up the boots so to speak as a permanent move,” he told CinePOP. “Fifteen years, we needed to just press pause… and come up for air and see what that looks like. But what the future holds… I definitely think that he and I would be up for talking about that."
True enough, the two didn’t shun away from their roles when the series ended.
Jared Padelecki is still with The CW, doing Walker, Texas Ranger reboot series Walker, while Jensen Ackles is part of the recently-concluded Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys Season 3.
