Despite the countless controversies surrounding James Gunn’s Superman, David Corenswet isn’t about to let his guard down when it comes to sharing his bold take on how to watch the Star Wars films in order.
Here’s how he suggests the franchise should be binge-watched.
How Does Superman’s David Conrenswet Watch the Star Wars Films?
If there’s anything that could make David tick, it’s anything and everything related to the Star Wars franchise. As it happens, he showcased his skill and personal take on how the watch order should be for the Skywalker Saga.
In a recent episode of Royal Court with Brittany Broski, Corenswet broke down his preferred watch order that would boggle the minds of most Star Wars fans. His watch sequence isn’t ideal, but as the Pearl star unveiled: IV, V, I, II, III, VI.

According to the Man of Steel himself, he prefers spoiling new fans by starting things off with A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, which unveils one of the most iconic twists in the franchise (“I am your father.”) before they dive into the prequels as part of the tragic flashback that overall ends with Return of the Jedi.
“If you’re going to introduce new people to them, you should watch them, IV, V, I, II, III, VI,” he explained, “You preserve the twist… then you watch I through III as a flashback, essentially. Then VI… it brings it all together. The stakes are bigger if you’ve seen I through III. It feels more like a saga.”
Typically, there are two types of watch orders that new fans can choose from: watch them by release date or by episode title order.
David’s suggestion, however, coincides with the Machete Order, with one major difference. David included The Phantom Menace, which the Machete Order axed from the list.
Speaking of franchises, a recent interview with Vanity Fair’s lie detector test sent David down a path he had yet to trod.
If David Could Be the Man of Steel or a Jedi, Which One Would He Pick?
Taking the test alongside his Superman co-star Nicholas Hoult, David was asked if he’d rather star in a sequel for the Man of Steel’s journey in the DCU or become a Jedi in the galaxy far, far away.
Considering how big a fan he is, he unsurprisingly chose to be a Jedi, specifically, an X-wing pilot.
It’s refreshing to see a rising movie star share his unconventional takes, whether it's choosing his love for Star Wars over others or sharing his extensive knowledge on the subject.
But what really takes the cake on this one is how David and James see the connection between Star Wars and the new DCU.

To James, the new DCU is “an alternate world”, “not an origin story”, in which “you’re just thrown into the middle of this universe, and you learn about it as you go.” To David? It was the music.
Part of the reason he had grown to love the galaxy far, far away is John Williams’ music being scored in those films, “The most surreal thing about being [in Superman] is now I am in a film that has John Williams' theme underneath it. That’s probably the biggest ‘pinch me’ moment for me in this whole thing, and it’s a fun thing to nerd out about.”
