Remember when we surprisingly saw John Cena’s Peacemaker appearing out of nowhere in the Superman movie?
Well, as it turns out, it’s a hint from the DCU and James Gunn on how the timeline will go from the Man of Steel’s origin story!
What Comes Next After Superman’s Punk Rocker Story? Gunn Teases Peacemaker Connection
Though the DCU doesn’t have an exact name for their ongoing saga yet, Gunn coined that they’re working on the Superman saga, which not only includes Supergirl’s story but also connects to Peacemaker season 2!
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn confirmed that he has completed a “very, very worked out treatment” for the next story.
“I’m working on that and hopefully going into production on that not too far away from today,” the writer and director of Superman added, without spoiling what the next expected film will be.

Gunn also noted that Superman “leads directly into Peacemaker,” hence the short cameo featuring John Cena on the news.
“It should be noted that this is for adults, not for children, but Superman leads into this show, and then we have the setting up of all of the rest of the DCU in this season of Peacemaker; it’s incredibly important,” Gunn said.
He also hinted, “Lots of guest stars coming up, lots of characters that are going to show up that we’ve already met in Superman.”
What Can Fans Expect From Peacemaker Season 2 After Superman Cameo?
As Peacemaker yearns to be taken seriously as a hero, Peacemaker season 2 increases the stakes with Christopher Smith hoping to make amends for the mistakes he made in the previous season.
That, however, is the least of their problems when Peacemaker has to deal with an alternative timeline that might trick him into staying where he doesn’t belong.
It is also worth mentioning that John Cena himself explained that Peacemaker season 2 is all about “furthering the narrative” as it expands how the DCU is now connected.

“Instead of standalone properties, all of the DCU is now connected, as you saw Peacemaker show up in Superman,” Cena explained, “I think what you see in season two is just a [move] forward of that narrative. That whole DCU through line — it takes the 11th Street Kids through their next adventure, but it also has a lot to do with the DCU going forward.”
Meanwhile, Peacemaker season 2, starring John Cena, premieres August 21 on HBO.
