DC Studios' co-chairs James Gunn and Peter Safran plan on kickstarting the franchise with a bang by releasing Superman next year. However, fans will be glad to know that even Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has just confirmed its release date ahead of the reboot!
It's been two years in the making since Gunn and Safran took over, however, they've been keeping DC fans up-to-date with the latest news on which heroes are part of Chapter One's roster.
Here is everything you need to know about the release date for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow!
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Release Date News
Warner Bros. and DC Studios have just confirmed that Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow hits theaters on June 26, 2026. Arguably, too far a date to anticipate but it is something to look forward to, nonetheless.
Based on Tom King's 2022 comic book series, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, this film serves as the second feature title under DC Studios' James Gunn and Peter Safran, once the Superman movie hits theaters on July 11, 2025.
Potential Issues Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Might Face
The DCU continues to go under certain changes with James Gunn and Peter Safran rebuilding the franchise from the ground up. Considering that they're rebooting the universe, this means several films and series are slated in the next few years, which includes Supergirl.
The slate of DCU Chapter One: Gods and Monsters includes Superman, Peacemaker season 2, Creature Commandos, Booster Gold, and many others, with Creature Commandos coming to Max in 2024.
Seeing as the slate is full, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow may potentially face delays in reserving its slot amid the other highly anticipated flicks.
Apart from that is, of course, the availability of their main actress, House of the Dragon's Milly Alcock, and whoever is working behind the scenes in charge of having Supergirl come to fruition.
Then there's post-production ensuring that the high standard quality fans seek from superhero movies when it comes to special effects.
What Does James Gunn Have in Store For Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow?
Since Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is based on the DC graphic novel of the same name.
Illustrated by Bilquis Evely, the comic series sees Kara Zor-El finding her life meaningless. As a young woman who was sent to Earth to protect her baby cousin, she finds out that the very mission that led her to flee her planet doesn't even need her help. So, what now?
With Superman in the picture, Supergirl is cast away into the shadows. Until, an alien girl seeks help from her, and she wants revenge against the villains who also destroyed her home planet.
The last time Supergirl graced the screens was back in 1984, starring Helen Slater in the titular hero role with Faye Dunaway as the main villain. Here's to hoping Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be the next spotlight the Angel in the Sky shines in.
