In case you missed it, there have been speculations that Jai Courtney is currently working on the sequel to Alita: Battle Angel. It all started out with an Instagram post where the Suicide Squad star shared a photo of himself wearing a full motion-capture. So is Courtney already filming for Alita 2? The Terminator: Genisys actor has finally addressed the rumors.
Courtney recently spoke to Cinemablend where he was asked if he is, in fact, already working on the Alita sequel. Not surprisingly, the Jack Reacher star was quick to deny any involvement.
"I can tell you this, it wasn't for Alita: Battle Angel. So, sorry CinemaBlend audience. It was another thing," Courtney said. He then revealed which project needed the full mo-cap suit.
"I actually got the chance to go do an episode of Love Death + Robots on Netflix. Some good friends of mine were involved in making it… It's this Tim Miller/David Fincher creation, and it was a chance to get off the couch during quarantine and do something completely different," Courtney said.
It's great to know that Courtney will be showing up in the second season of Love Death + Robots. However, that also means that Alita 2 isn't in production just yet. Nevertheless, the Alita Army is staying positive and hoping for some good news in the future.
Courtney will reprise his role as Captain Boomerang in The Suicide Squad, which is currently scheduled for release on August 6, 2021.
