Street Fighter 2026

Street Fighter (2026) may feature an ensemble cast, from Noah Centineo and Andrew Koji to Jason Momoa and 50 Cent, but its story is relatively straightforward.

The film features M. Bison (David Dastmalchian) hosting a grand fighting tournament, inviting the greatest warriors from around the world to compete.

Among the participants are Ken (Centineo), Dhalsim (Vidyut Jammwal), and Balrog (50 Cent). Although Ryu (Koji) is not part of the original lineup, he takes E. Honda’s (Hirooki Goto) place after defeating him in a fight at a bathhouse.

However, the tournament is merely part of Bison’s plan to lure Ryu out of hiding, extract his fighting power, and convert it into Psycho Power for himself.

Ryu struggles to control his ability but eventually manages to defeat his formidable opponent, Akuma (Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i), by tapping into his own dark energy before Ken takes him down.

This forces Bison to change his plans. After witnessing Akuma’s abilities, he takes him away, intending to extract and absorb his immense power for himself.

Ken, Ryu, Chun-Li (Callina Liang), and Dan (Andrew Schulz) attempt to stop Bison from escaping, but their efforts fail after Cammy (Mel Jarnson) destroys their vehicle.

As the film comes to a close, Ken and the gang are left hitchhiking until they get picked up by Guile (Cody Rhodes) and Dhalsim, setting them on a path to stop Bison’s plans once and for all.

Meanwhile, a mid-credits scene shows Bison, Cammy, and Vega approaching a scarred Sagat, seemingly attempting to recruit him into their group for a future battle.

Street Fighter 2026

Bison is the main villain of Street Fighter, but the 2026 film ends with him still at large. With the story lacking a definitive conclusion, it looks like the battle could continue in Street Fighter 2.

Not only does Bison fail to absorb Ryu’s power, but he also escapes with Akuma’s powers. This makes him an even more formidable villain and a greater threat in a potential sequel.

Although Chun-Li manages to defeat Vega and Juli (Rayna Vallandingham), Bison’s continued presence means they could regroup and pose another threat to the heroes.

Sagat’s cameo could also hint at what lies ahead. As one of the most formidable fighters in the games, he could cause serious problems for the beloved warriors.

Sagat could even ally with Bison, and fans of the franchise will know that his motivations change throughout the series.

If a sequel happens, it could explore Sagat working under Bison, as he does in the Street Fighter II video game.

Director Kitao Sakurai has also hinted at the possibility of making a second movie.

“I can unfortunately not confirm nor deny anything of that nature,” he said during the film’s press day (via ComicBook). “But it’s something that we would obviously love to do. I mean, we had such an incredible time making this movie and would love to do more.”

However, a sequel will likely depend on audience reactions, box office performance, and critical reception. So far, the film has a 45% critics’ score and an 83% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

While it is still too early to determine how the film will perform at the box office, fans will have to wait and see whether Street Fighter 2 becomes a reality.
