The Japanese boy band Strawberry Prince has been popular for a while now, and soon, fans can look forward to seeing them on the big screen. That’s because the new Strawberry Prince boy band’s Strawberry School Festival anime film just got a release date.

Its release date was revealed alongside a new trailer that showed off lots of new footage featuring the band members in action along with their colorful new outfits.

Strawberry Prince’s Strawberry School Festival Release Date

Strawberry Prince is a six-member music group that was formed back in 2016 and has since gained a huge following in Japan. You can think of them as a virtual group as they perform with digital avatars and use stage names.

Aside from their original tracks, Strawberry Prince has also performed songs for popular anime, including titles in the Yo-kai Watch and Cardfight!! Vanguard series.

Given their popularity and involvement with anime productions, it’s no surprise that the group will star in a new movie titled Strawberry School Festival.

In Japanese, the film’s official title is Gekijoban SutoPuri Hajimari no Monogatari: Strawberry School Festival!!!! (or SutoPuri Origin Story the Movie: Strawberry School Festival in English).

It will also feature all six active members as the voice actors for their respective characters.

Based on the trailer, the Strawberry School Festival movie will be released in Japanese cinemas on July 19, 2024.

Meet the Strawberry Prince Anime Film’s Staff

The new trailer also shows off the animation by LIDEN Films, the anime studio behind many popular anime such as Tokyo Revengers, Call of the Night, and the Rurouni Kenshin remake.

Directing the film is Naoki Matsuura, the director of Liar Liar and a staff member in Attack on Titan The Final Season Part 2 and Black Clover.

He is joined by scriptwriter Chika Suzumura (Yozakura Quartet) and character designer Yumi Nakamura (Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku).

Finally, the group’s leader nanamori (Masato Kashiwabara) serves as the film’s original story creator.

Exploring the Strawberry School Festival Anime’s Story

As shown in the new trailer and as the title implies, the movie will function as an origin story for the group’s virtual personas.

Given this, the movie may serve as a good entry point for anime fans who are curious about the group’s story and music.

While the film is set to be released in Japanese cinemas next month, there’s no word yet on international release plans for the movie.
