It looks like DC Universe's Stargirl is running along smoothly. Last, last month, Warner Brothers decided to cast Brec Bessinger as the show's lead character, Courtney Whitmore. Now it looks like the studio's also found two others to join the film's cast.
According to a new report by Deadline, Christopher James Baker and Yvette Monreal have just been named as series regulars in the DC Universe's upcoming live-action series. Unfortunately, it seems like both of their roles are being kept under wraps as of the moment with the parts being named as "undisclosed DC characters."
For those who haven't followed news on the upcoming series, Stargirl will focus on the adventures of Courtney Whitmore, a young high school sophomore who inspires an unlikely ragtag group of heroes to come together and stop villains of the past. This new series sets out to reimagine the character that Geoff Johns created in 1999, bringing her and her superhero team, the Justice Society of America, together in an exciting and unpredictable comic book series.
"There is no other character in comic books more special to me than Stargirl," Johns, who also happens to be the series' Executive Producer, said in a statement. "After searching far and wide I can say there is no other actor on the planet that embodies her more than Brec Bassinger. Brec's warmth, strength, humor, and positive energy are core to who Courtney Whitmore is. I'm so grateful she's signed on for the role."
Right now we don't know much about Stargirl, but it's definitely exciting to see another DC comic book series come to life. We can't wait to see the first few photos from the show.
Stargirl doesn't have a release date just yet but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
