Star Wars: The Mandalorian has taken the Star Wars fanbase by storm, and now everyone's wondering whether the series will have any hand to play in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
According to a report by Inverse, Lucasfilm might have actually hinted at the potential appearance of Baby Yoda in Episode IX. Reviewing the final trailer for The Rise of Skywalker, the entertainment news site takes note of the video's music.
For those who haven't noticed yet, the music for the final Rise of Skywalker trailer sounds a whole lot like Yoda's theme from Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back.
The similarity in the theme's melody might seem like a coincidence to some, however, the publication suggests that Lucasfilm picked the tune for a reason. Not only did Yoda return in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but right now Star Wars: The Mandalorian's Baby Yoda has become quite the sensation.
Knowing how slowly Yoda's species ages, it wouldn't be a surprise to hear that Baby Yoda is hiding somewhere in the galaxy far, far away at the time of Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy. How cool would it be to see Baby Yoda make an appearance in The Rise of Skywalker?
Of course, it's possible that Baby Yoda doesn't make an appearance in the film. It's also likely that Yoda's theme in the trailer for Episode IX could hint at the return of the Jedi Master. After all, Rey is going to need all the help she can get if she's to defeat Palpatine.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
