The premise of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker might still be a mystery but it looks like the Resistance has been very busy since the Battle of Crait. A new book that will serve as a prequel to the movie is set to reveal what happened to the survivors after Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
StarWars.com has announced the Journey to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, a new collection featuring novels and comic books that will be released ahead of Episode IX. One of these books is Resistance Reborn by Rebecca Roanhorse. From the title alone, it's clear that the new trilogy's main characters will be working together to make sure the Resistance will come back stronger.
This is certainly in line with J.J. Abrams' confirmation that Rise of Skywalker will not take place right after The Last Jedi. This should give Resistance Reborn plenty of room to work with, especially in establishing the relationships between the three main characters of the new trilogy and how they are connected to Leia Organa.
Interestingly, Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron have yet to share some screentime together. The trio will finally work together in Episode IX but it won't be their first mission as a team. In Resistance Reborn, all three will need to team up in order to find new recruits.
The description for Resistance Reborn reads as follows:
"In this Journey to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker novel, Poe Dameron, General Leia Organa, Rey, and Finn must struggle to rebuild the Resistance after their defeat at the hands of the First Order in Star Wars: The Last Jedi."
Resistance Reborn will be available starting November 12. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is scheduled for release on December 20.
