Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker might have ended its theatrical release about a few months ago, but it seems like the controversial Disney Star Wars movie is still enjoying success in the US.
According to Forbes, a report by The Digital Entertainment Group reveals that The Rise of Skywalker is still enjoying a whole lot of popularity in America as the most "watched at home" movie last week.
The industry data analyst just compiled data from satellite, cable, internet VOD, as well as surveys from retailers for physical and media sales to learn about the movies that have made it to what The Digital Entertainment Group calls the "Watched from Home Top 20."
While we suspect that the list was made to see what movies have been performing exceptionally well now that American movie-goers are forced to stay at home to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus, we can't help but feel surprised that Episode IX continues to make waves on home media.
This week, The Rise of Skywalker made it to the top as The Digital Entertainment Group's most "watched-at-home movie," beating out recent releases like Onward and Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).
This doesn't necessarily mean that The Rise of Skywalker was a total success though. Reports by industry analysts have revealed that Episode IX gained the least profits among the entries in Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy – a result of mixed-negative reviews and poor word of mouth.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is available on Digital HD, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
