It looks like Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is going to kill off a few major Star Wars characters when it premieres later this December.
Though it isn't entirely a surprise considering the fact that Carrie Fisher has long since passed away, this week, we've gotten word about how Leia would end up dying in Star Wars: Episode IX with leaks suggesting that the Star Wars princess would join the Force during Kylo Ren's (Adam Driver) battle with Rey (Daisy Ridley) during the second act of the movie.
According to the same source of the leak, Redditor JediPaxis (a Star Wars fan known for sharing leaks from credible sources), death won't stop with Leia. C-3PO and General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) are also going down in this movie.
This post by JediPaxis claims that C-3PO is going to end up sacrificing himself to support the Resistance, suggesting that the droid will have committed an important message to his memory bank and that the Resistance will have to hack his programming and erase his memories to read it.
"In an act of self-sacrifice C-3PO voluntarily consents to the modifications, knowing that (for all intents and purposes) the droid we've all known for years will essentially die," the post reads.
According to the leak, it's this hack that turns the droid's eyes red – the opposite of what Star Wars fan believed to be Dark Side tampering.
General Hux will also end up giving his life away in Episode IX. The leak claims that Hux will be revealed as a double agent, helping the Resistance win the war against the First Order. The betrayal will reach Kylo Ren, and the Supreme Leader will end up killing the general for turning his back on the Dark Side and on the First Order.
This part of the leak seems to confirm earlier theories that Hux would betray the First Order – though we do have to advise fans to take everything with a major grain of salt. We have to wait for confirmation from Lucasfilm before anything else.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
