As many of us have expected, Marvel is working on a Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker comic book adaptation. The publisher has already released comic book versions of The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi so an adaptation of The Rise of Skywalker was only natural. Like previous comic book adaptations, fans are being promised new story portions that will flesh out the original story, something this retelling desperately needed.
Like previous comic adaptations, The Rise of Skywalker will be a five-issue mini-series, though this one will be written by Jody Houser and drawn by Will Sliney. We're looking forward to the new story material that will be added to the comic since everyone wants to see certain parts of the film explained. Lord knows that we want some kind of explanation for Emperor Palpatine's return.
Here's the solicitation of The Rise of Skywalker (Via Newsarama):
FROM BEYOND THE OUTER RIM, AN OLD ENEMY RETURNS! REY and the RESISTANCE set out on a desperate quest to stop the threat of the FINAL ORDER! Can they succeed where Jedi Master LUKE SKYWALKER himself failed? And what is KYLO REN'S real goal in partnering with the resurrected PALPATINE? The landmark Skywalker saga is adapted by Jody (TIE FIGHTER) Houser and Will Sliney (THE RISE OF KYLO REN). Featuring extended and deleted scenes.
These comics have been bought by most Star Wars fans, mostly to see if any of the changes made have been positive. The Last Jedi actually added some cool moments, like the Force occasionally giving Luke Skywalker visions, even if he tried to cut himself from it. Let's hope we get moments that are just as cool in The Rise of Skywalker.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker #1 (of 5) will be coming out this June.
