Star Wars fans have many different questions about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, however, one of the major points of interest is Emperor Palpatine and his inevitable return in the upcoming Star Wars sequel trilogy.
Ever since the very first trailer for The Rise of Skywalker ut though Rey's reflection of herself in Episode IX, fans have been wondering just how Darth Sidious might return to everyone's galaxy far, far away after his death in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. While some suggest that Palpatine might return through a hologram, others suggest that the iconic Star Wars villain can make his way back even without the help of any other character.
Now, according to a report by Cosmic Book News, new images from Episode IX have been circulating online, giving fans their very first look at The Emperor in the highly anticipated Star Wars entry. One of the pictures features Sidious sitting on the throne that fans got to see in the first full trailer for The Rise of Skywalker. Emperor Palpatine is holding up his hands in the air and shooting Lightning – perhaps towards Rey herself,
Another leaked image has Rey standing side by side with Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). The two lead characters of Lucasfilm's sequel Star Wars trilogy have their lightsabers ignited, both readying themselves for a fight against a common enemy that we're guessing to be Palpatine. The final trailer also teased this moment showing Rey and Ren breaking the shrine made for Vader.
These are pretty interesting new images, one that adds to the new speculation that's come out ever since Lucasfilm dropped the trailer for Episode IX.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
