Screen Junkies has covered pretty much everything when it comes to Star Wars, but with The Rise of Skywalker out, they found something that they haven’t made an Honest Trailer for yet—the animated Clone Wars movie.
You spent weeks arguing about The Mandalorian, you’ll spend months arguing about The Rise of Skywalker, now watch the one Star Wars movie capable of uniting the entire fanbase by agreeing it’s the worst theatrically released movie in the franchise. Easily.
While there is a lot of regard to the quality of the Clone Wars series, some people forget that Lucasfilm had planned to launch the show with a theatrically released animated movie back in 2008. If anything, it didn’t have the same quality as the show itself, and as the Honest Trailer suggests, it has a lot of clunky animation.
If anything, the movie isn’t a complete failure. It pretty much sets the mood for the entire show, plus we get introduced to one of the most beloved characters in the fandom—Ahsoka Tano.
Personally, I think it’s kind of a bummer that the show decided to ignore the Clone Wars series from Gendy Tartakovsky from 2003. In my opinion, the action on that show is way more dynamic, and we get a tighter, compact narrative. Plus, the characterization of Grievous is leaps and bounds better than what we got in the series, even surpassing the live-action Grievous in Revenge of the Sith.
For now, you can catch Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Disney+.
