Lucasfilm introduced Maz Kanata into the Star Wars franchise when it released Star Wars: The Force Awakens back in 2015, and while the Force-sensitive pub owner and relic collector didn't really get that much of screen time in the sequel trilogy, we've long since learned that she's had quite a history with Han Solo and Chewbacca.
In The Force Awakens, we get to learn about an adventure between the three that nearly cost their lives, but the film never really elaborated the story. Now, thanks to the latest Age of Resistance one-shot comic, we get to learn about the details of the mission.
The one-shot titled "Maz's Scoundrels" is set decades after the events of The Force Awakens, and in it, we get to see Maz, Han, and Chewie going after First Order loyalists. Maz is off to down Baron Somareeva in the Wild Space sector because of what he's stolen from her, and she hires Han and Chewie as her muscle.
It's a pretty intense mission with a lot of heavy fire and a lot of quick wits to infiltrate Somaveera's base. In one scene we get to see Chewie going wild after learning that Somaveera's been wearing a fur coat made out of the remains of a Wookie, and Maz jumps on his back, firing guns with both of her hands the same way Rocket Racoon (Bradley Cooper) and Groot (Vin Diesel) do it in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.
Turns out, Mazz is a pretty great fighter after all.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set to premiere on December 20, 2019.
