Star Wars: Episode IX might be making its way to cinemas later this year, but Lucasfilm is still keeping a pretty tight hold on the film's secrets, starving the ever curious Star Wars fanbase with its silence.
Without a single teaser to keep themselves busy, Star Wars fans turn towards the different Episode IX theories circulating online. While most of these theories center around Rey's (Daisy Ridley) parentage and the appearance of villains like Snoke, Vader, and Palpatine, one of the newest theories focuses on the Knights of Ren.
According to a new fan theory posted on Reddit, there's one big reason why Rey and the Resistance have yet to come across the Knights of Ren in Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy. Apparently, meeting the Knights of Ren is going to have a big impact on the Jakku Orphan because Rey, along with members of Kylo Ren's followers, might actually be female clones of Luke Skywalker.
"I believe Rey and the KOR to be female clones of someone, possibly Luke Skywalker (cloned from his severed hand found on Cloud City)," the Star Wars theorist wrote on Reddit.
"I can't really think of anyone else's DNA that The First Order (or whoever did the cloning process) could have gotten their hands on. Shmi Skywalker seems like a stretch," the Redditor continued. "But I have a feeling that someone tried to resurrect Vader as a clone, and it failed in the way that all attempts resulted in female clones. The Force itself could have made this happen."
It sounds like a wild and unlikely stretch, but hey, we need to keep ourselves entertained while this Star Wars dry spell continues. There are a lot of ridiculous fan theories circulating online, and it doesn't hurt to have a good laugh every now and then.
Star Wars: Episode IX premieres December 20, 2019.
