Lucasfilm might be careful to keep Star Wars: Episode IX's secrets under wraps but it seems like some of the film's plot details are leaking out online.
Star Wars fans have been speculating Emperor Palpatine's role in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ever since Darth Sidious' familiar cackle echoed out in the last few seconds of the movie's very first teaser. What part does the iconic Star Wars villain have to play in the conclusion of Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy?
Making Star Wars podcast claims to have the answer. According to the Star Wars fan site, there's a new leak revealing what Palpatine has planned for Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). This leak suggests that the Sith Lord appears early on in Episode IX, appearing to Kylo Ren to tell the First Order's new Supreme Leader that he wants Kylo Ren and Rey to be the Emperor and Empress of his new Empire.
It might sound like a pretty romantic notion for fans of the Reylo pairing, but what Palpatine wants is for the two to unite so that he can return to the land of the living. Rey and Ren represent the Dark and Light sides of the Force. Coming together, they could be powerful enough to resurrect Palpatine with his full strength.
It's a pretty wild suggestion, though it could tie together with the latest poster for Episode IX as well as the appearance of Dark Rey in the new teaser released during Disney's D23.
