The introduction of the Knights of Ren in Star Wars: The Force Awakens might have sparked excitement and speculation among Star Wars fans, however, very little is known about the mysterious group of followers of Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). The Knights of Ren barely appeared in The Force Awakens, and the group had nothing to do at all in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Now, a week before the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, fans learn one key detail about the Knights of Ren – the fighters aren't just physically skilled, they're Force users as well.
Marvel just recently released The Rise of Kylo Ren, a comic book serious exploring the life of the estranged son of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Leia (the late Carrie Fisher) and his eventual turn to the Dark Side.
The first details of The Rise of Kylo Ren confirm the Knights of Ren's connection to the Force.
Speaking in an interview with Star Wars' official website to help promote his new Marvel comic book, The Rise of Kylo Ren writer Charles Soule confirms that the dark Force warriors actually use the Force.
"They can all use the Force, the dark side of the Force, to varying degrees. They're not as powerful as a Jedi or a Sith, but they use it when they fight…. They have some sort of a code, like a motorcycle gang, but it's not elaborate. They're flexible... Mostly they're just kind of out to live their lives the way they want to live them and take what the galaxy will give them and eat what the dark side sends," the writer explained in his interview with the publication.
This clears up a lot of the assumptions about the Knights of Ren. Before The Rise of Kylo Ren was released, Star Wars fans believed that the Knights had no connection to the Force and were simply skilled in different fighting styles because of the different specialty weapons that they carried. The truth is, they actually are true Force Users – though they aren't as powerful as Kylo Ren.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
