The highly-anticipated Spider-Man Noir TV series Spider-Noir has cast an Oscar-nominated actor to play the main villain.
A few months ago, it was confirmed that Sony and Amazon are officially moving forward with a Spider-Man Noir live-action series that will star Nicolas Cage as the titular hero. He is reprising his role from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Since then, fans have been looking forward to hearing more details about the series as they are curious to find out which other actors they'll cast to join the series and who will play the antagonist that Spider-Man Noir will face.
Brendan Gleeson Joins Spider-Noir as the Main Villain
It was officially confirmed that Oscar-nominated actor Brendan Gleeson has joined the cast of Spider-Noir.
There are no details yet regarding the character that he will portray in the series, but he is set to play the main villain.
Months ago, there were reports that Gleeson was in talks to potentially co-star in the series and, now, his casting has finally been confirmed. He is joining the ensemble that already includes Cage, Lamorne Morris, Abraham Popoola, and Li Jun Li.
This won't be the Oscar nominee's first rodeo in the comic book world as he also co-stars in the upcoming DC film Joker: Folie à Deux. He is also known for playing Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody in the Harry Potter film series.
As proven by his decades-long work, Gleeson is an exciting addition to the cast and it is interesting to see what kind of villainous character will he play that faces off against Spider-Man Noir.
More importantly, his casting as the antagonist poses a question of whether he will be playing a well-known villainous character that fans are familiar with in the comics or it will be a new character that was solely made for the series.
