It looks like Sony Pictures already has big plans for Spider-Man but we're not talking about Peter Parker. A new report reveals that the studio is already developing a live-action project featuring Miles Morales!
There is little doubt that Miles Morales is one of Sony's hottest properties right now. Miles' big-screen debut in the animated feature Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse was one of the studio's biggest hits back in 2018 and the film even took home an Academy Award. Not surprisingly, that led to a sequel that is currently in production and now, we could be getting a live-action movie featuring the young webslinger.
Industry insider Daniel Richtman dropped the scoop on his Patreon, revealing that Sony Pictures is already planning a Miles Morales live-action project. However, it is unclear whether the movie is already in development or if the idea is still being kicked around by the studio. However, considering that the current Spider-Man trilogy is coming to an end, it wouldn't be a huge surprise if Sony is already planning to introduce the next Spider-Man.
But does this mean the end for Tom Holland's Spider-Man? That might not be the case. After all, the success of Into The Spider-Verse has confirmed that there's enough room for two Spider-Men. With that in mind, Peter might soon be teaming up with Miles in one of the future Sony projects.
For now, Sony Pictures has not yet confirmed if a Miles Morales live-action film is in development. However, we could get an official announcement by early next year. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
Miles returns in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse 2, which is scheduled for release on October 7, 2022. Peter will swing into action in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which will hit theaters on December 17, 2021.
