While we might not see Spider-Man in the MCU anymore, it looks like the quality from previous films will remain. Though Jon Watts' status isn't known yet, Tom Holland is slated to return for the third film and now we know that Spider-Man: Far From Home writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers will be returning as well. The duo has kept these Spider-Man movies pretty funny and consistent so their returns mean we will likely get another good film with the web-slinger.
Deadline confirmed the return of McKenna and Sommers, so it's good to know that the next film will remain funny and action-packed. The two were once slated to direct DCEU's The Flash but that won't be happening since the left the project, just like everyone else before them. It's too soon to tell how the lack of an MCU to pull from will affect their writing but we'll have to wait and see.
They can always kiss and make up…
Sony seems to be safe with Holland and the two writers returning, though it's not yet clear if Watts will return, especially with rumors that Marvel Studios is courting him for something else. Considering how Watts has expressed interest in helming a Fantastic Four film in previous interviews, Marvel could get him if the money is right.
It still stings knowing that Peter Parker might not be a part of the MCU anymore but we did get some good moments while he was there. Hopefully, we get quality team-ups with Venom and the other Marvel heroes Sony has access to but it's going to be awkward knowing that they won't reference any MCU material from now on.
Spider-Man: Far From Home will be re-released in cinemas on August 29.
