Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will finally arrive in theaters very soon and the film will take Miles Morales' multiversal adventure to the next level as he will encounter more Spider-Man variants alongside Gwen Stacy and Spider-Man 2099.
So far, the details remain under wraps on how many universes will we see in the film and there have been reports that they will also dabble with the Venom universe. Now, we have the confirmation and our first look at how they'll tackle it.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Will Visit the Venom Universe
A recent TV spot for the film revealed our first look at the sequel's crossover with the Venom universe. The Spot is seen appearing in Mrs. Chen's convenience store and stealing a pack of gum from her.
"What do you want?" Mrs. Chen asked after getting annoyed. The Spot responded, "I'm robbing you 'cause I'm a bad guy."
However, as you may also notice, it looks like they are reusing the scene from Venom: Let There Be Carnage but with increased brightness.
In the original scene, it was Anne Weying (Michelle Williams) who came to the store and asked Mrs. Chen about Venom.
Fans might be surprised to see that the live-action Venom scene was not new footage that they shot for the film and they simply reused footage that fits with the gag that they are trying to do.
It remains to be seen yet whether this is the only live-action scene that will be used in the film or they might also dabble with an appearance in the various Spider-Man live-action universes such as the MCU, which has also been rumored.
Will We See More Venom Crossover in the Movie?
It is still unknown yet whether that is the only Venom crossover that the upcoming film, but it does show us that they are willing to play a little bit with the live-action Spider-Verse films.
However, there is also a possibility that it's just simply a one-time gag as an easter egg to the live-action movies and they want to show that anything is possible when it comes to the multiverse.
It is also worth considering that they are still keeping some of the details a surprise. If Tom Hardy does appear in the film, he might not appear in the promotional materials and they want the audience to be surprised by his cameo once they see it.
We should be able to see more details and hints about what we will about to see in the film as we're getting closer to its release.
