Amazon MGM Studios has finally dropped the first look at its upcoming Tomb Raider reboot, featuring new lead Sophie Turner.
Channeling archaeologist and explorer Lara Croft, the Game of Thrones star takes over from Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander, who previously portrayed the iconic video game character.
As her look appears to tease the direction of the story, here’s everything we know so far about the Tomb Raider reboot.
What is the Tomb Raider Reboot about?

While Amazon has remained mum about the plot details of the Tomb Raider reboot, Turner’s outfit for her character seems to hint at what the story will be about.
The British actress dons Lara’s classic teal sleeveless top paired with black shorts. She completes the look with her trademark chest-framing harness, thigh holsters, and of course, her circular red sunglasses that she also wears throughout the franchise’s first five games.
With that being said, the series may adapt the game’s early days instead of the grittier reboots. The franchise follows Lara as she travels around the world to search for lost artefacts and infiltrate dangerous tombs and ruins.
Who are the Cast of the Tomb Raider Reboot?

Turner was officially announced as the lead of the Tomb Raider reboot in September 2025.
At the time, the show’s writer and co-showrunner Phoebe Waller-Bridge described casting the Dark Phoenix star as “formidable.”
"Everyone on board is wildly passionate about Lara and is all as outrageous, brave, and hilarious as she is,” she continued.
Turner, meanwhile, acknowledged the challenge of stepping into the role previously played by Jolie and Vikander.
“Following in the steps of Angelina and Alicia with their powerhouse performances, but with Phoebe at the helm, we (and Lara) are all in very safe hands,” she added.
Other cast members include:
- Martin Bobb-Semple as Zip, Lara’s tech guru and voice of support.
- Jason Isaacs as Atlas DeMornay, Lara’s uncle.
- Bill Paterson as Winston, the loyal Croft family butler.
- Jack Bannon as Gerry, Lara’s personal pilot.
- John Heffernan as David, a government official.
- Celia Imrie as Francine, a British Museum insider.
- Paterson Joseph as Thomas Warner, a government troubleshooter.
- Sasha Luss as Sasha, Lara’s fierce rival.
- Juliette Motamed as Georgia, a curator with a strict preservation ethos.
- Sigourney Weaver as Evelyn Wallis, a mysterious figure intent on capitalizing on Lara’s talents.
- August Wittgenstein as Lukas, an illegal raider with a complicated history.
When Will the Tomb Raider Reboot Be Released?

So far, there is no word on when the Tomb Raider reboot will be released. The series has only just officially entered production, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge at the helm.
This marks the showrunner’s second television series following the 2019 hit Fleabag.
"If I could tell my teenage self this was happening I think she’d explode," Waller-Bridge said when the show was ordered to series in 2024 (via Deadline). "Tomb Raider has been a huge part of my life and I feel incredibly privileged to be bringing it to television with such passionate collaborators. Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure. Bats ‘n all,"
Her co-showrunner is Chad Hodge, with Jonathan Van Tulleken serving as director and executive producer.
