Rachel Zegler was invited to attend the Met Gala this year, but reports say she has decided not to go.

Hosted by Anna Wintour, the event is set to welcome some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Still, despite the drama surrounding her at the moment, Wintour reportedly included the Snow White star on the guest list.

The Met Gala has already sent out invitations to select celebrities for this year’s red carpet event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 5.

Among those invited is Rachel Zegler. However, the 23-year-old actress will reportedly not be attending.

Zegler’s representative told Page Six that “Rachel will be in rehearsals for Evita in London in May.”

This isn’t the first time Zegler has been invited to the prestigious event. In 2021, she wore a Dior Haute Couture dress paired with Victoria’s Secret styling pieces — months ahead of the West Side Story premiere.

Last year, the Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes star appeared in a baby blue Michael Kors dress, which aligned with the 2024 theme and dress code, “The Garden of Time.”

Zegler, who made controversial statements about the original Disney Snow White, and divided fans over her political views on U.S. President Donald Trump and the Palestine-Israel war, is currently being blamed for the poor performance of the 2025 remake, which aired this March.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, who are also currently in a legal battle with It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni, were invited to the Met Gala as well, but have apparently decided to skip it.

Aside from actors and musicians, many athletes have also been invited to the event this year.

The 2025 Met Gala theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which will center on menswear fashion shaped by Black identities from the 18th century to the present.

Disney’s Snow White Performing Poorly at the Box Office

Disney’s Snow White, directed by Marc Webb and produced by Marc Platt, hit theaters on March 21, 2025.

The film was panned by critics. Some called it a “dull” and “soulless” live-action adaptation of the 1937 animated classic — Disney’s first-ever animated film. It’s worth noting that this was the movie that established the company’s legacy and laid the foundation for the classic titles fans know and love.

The remake is now underperforming at the box office, earning only $42 million on its domestic opening and $86 million globally. Now in its third week, it has grossed just $168 million worldwide, which is still far from its $250 million budget.

Many expected this to happen, as it was already surrounded by controversies even before it premiered.

Snow White first came under fire after it was announced that a Latina actress would be playing a character traditionally portrayed in the fairytale as a white princess.

The second controversy surfaced when Peter Dinklage criticized the film for making a story about “seven dwarfs living in a cave together,” which he said could be seen as insensitive or offensive, especially if actors with dwarfism were cast to play the characters.

Zegler then commented on how the original Snow White was old-fashioned, describing it as “weird” and “sexist” for featuring a "stalker" Prince. Many believe that this “woke” remark played a part in the film’s poor reception.

Other figures tied to the live-action film have also been involved in controversy. Gal Gadot, for instance, has remained a polarizing actress after publicly declaring her pro-Israel stance amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
