It has been six months since the first season’s finale, and fans are now in for a treat as the Shy season 2 release date is official, and it will be this July.

Typically, shows take a year or so to get new seasons, so the fact that Shy only needed six months to get new episodes is great news for fans who can’t wait to see more of Teru Momijiyama’s story.

Along with the release date, the anime also got a new trailer that showed off new clips and highlighted more voice cast members.

Shy S2 Release Date Confirmed

Shy season 2 was announced shortly after the 13th and final episode of season 1, indicating that the first season has been successful enough to get quickly renewed.

At the time, it wasn’t clear when the next season would air, though its summer 2024 premiere was soon revealed. Now, Shy season 2 is officially coming out on July 1 in Japan.

Season 2’s premiere date was announced alongside the new trailer that also previewed the anime’s opening theme song titled WILLSHINE by the Japanese music group PassCode.

Also revealed are three new cast members, including Wataru Hatano (Hitoshi Shinso in My Hero Academia) as Century, Hiro Shimono (Zenitsu Agatsuma in Demon Slayer as Tokimaru), and Izumi Kitta (Bijin in RIN-NE) as Kwabara.

Alongside these new cast members, the VAs from the first season are also returning, along with its staff at studio Eight Bit (of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime and Blue Lock fame).

Where to Watch Shy Season 2

In Japan, the new season will premiere on July 1 on TV Tokyo. The series will also air on other select Japanese networks.

There’s no word yet on an official streaming platform partner for season 2, but it will likely be streamed on Crunchyroll, as the first season was streamed on the platform shortly after each episode aired last year.

Given this, fans should expect to see Crunchyroll stream the second season as soon as each episode finishes airing in Japan.

Shy’s Upcoming Season Will See Stigma Make His Next Move

While the first season ended on a satisfying note for the protagonist Teru, it did tease that the main villain Stigma is now planning his next move.

Stigma has been an enigmatic foe in the first season, so it’s likely that he’ll play a bigger role in the events of the second season, especially based on what happens in the manga.

For those who can’t wait to find out what happens, the first season covers until chapter 30 of the manga, so they can start reading chapter 31.
