Speaking with E! News during the New York screening of his new film Good Fortune, Reeves recalled his experience working with Keaton in Something's Gotta Give in his tribute to the late actress.

Reeves and Keaton notably played love interests in the beloved 2003 Nancy Meyers romantic-comedy film, where the actress also garnered her fourth and final Oscar nomination.

"Total pro. She was very nice to me. Generous, generous artist and a very special, unique person," he said.

"It was cool to be able to see her and Jack Nicholson together. Just with the history they shared and the way the fondness and love they had for each other. It’s really cool."

Reeves also paid tribute to the late actress when he appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert alongside his longtime friend and Waiting for Godot co-star Alex Winter. He described her as "an extraordinary, unique, special person and artist."

Just like in the other interview, he recalled one of his fond memories with Keaton when they worked in Something's Gotta Give.

"It was Diane and Jack Nicholson at a table in a restaurant in Paris. And just watching those two legends not only act, but insult each other. She would turn to Jack and [say], 'You're just a... Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.' And he would just be like, 'Yeah, you dirty...' And they're just grinning, but they're just insulting each other with love," he shared.

"The intelligence, the humor, but just watching them just be themselves, and with the history and art that they've worked [on]."

How Did the Other Celebrities Pay Tribute to Diane Keaton?

As mentioned, several celebrities have been paying tribute to Keaton since the news of her passing, including the two prolific directors with whom she notably worked: Nancy Meyers and Woody Allen.

In her long tribute post on Instagram, Meyers called her a "brilliant actress who time and again laid herself bare to tell our stories" and, "as a woman, I lost a friend of almost 40 years – at times over those years, she felt like a sister because we shared so many truly memorable experiences."

Meanwhile, Allen penned an essay for The Free Press where he wrote, "It’s grammatically incorrect to say ‘most unique,’ but all rules of grammar, and I guess anything else, are suspended when talking about Diane Keaton. Unlike anyone the planet has experienced or is unlikely to ever see again, her face and laugh illuminated any space she entered."

Bette Midler, who worked with Keaton in The First Wives Club, also said in her tribute: "I cannot tell you how unbearably sad this makes me. She was hilarious, a complete original, and completely without guile, or any of the competitiveness one would have expected from such a star. What you saw was who she was…oh, la, lala!"
