DC fans were expecting a full trailer drop for Shazam! this Tuesday, but WB has been gracious enough to give us a small teaser to build up the hype.
It's just a short minute of new footage, but it gives us more on Billy Batson's crazy antics as Captain Marvel. We have him doing some tricks in front of a crowd of people, and we can also see him trying to purchase beer as an adult. Probably the silliest bit in the trailer is Shazam and Freddy trying to find a secret lair from a realtor.
We also have our first look at Shazam going against the villain Doctor Sivana, plus we get an interesting look at the statues of the Seven Deadly Sins. What's interesting is, though it looks like it's Billy walking into the chamber, it's a completely different kid with different clothes. Is this supposed to be the origin of Black Adam? Maybe it's the origin of Sivana and it will explain his obsession with gaining Shazam's powers?
Aquaman was a big hit for DC, and another stumble is not what they need right now. The good news is, Shazam! looks great, and a lot of people are excited to see the DCEU keep moving forward. Hopefully we don't get anymore setbacks as the franchise trudges along. After all, how can it get worse than Justice League?
Billy Batson is a streetwise 14-year-old who can magically transform into the adult superhero Shazam simply by shouting out one word. His newfound powers soon get put to the test when he squares off against the evil Dr. Thaddeus Sivana.
Shazam! soars into theaters April 5.
