Shazam 2 Star Rachel Zegler Shines in New West Side Story Trailer

One of the most-anticipated films this year is Steven Spielberg's new film adaptation of the classic Broadway musical West Side Story. A teaser trailer was released last April giving us a first look at the new take. Now, we have an extended peek at the epic-looking musical that revolves around a classic forbidden love story in the streets of 1950s New York City.

20th Century Studios has released the official trailer for the upcoming film where we see Rachel Zegler, who is set to star in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, heavily featured in her role as Maria. We get to hear her take on the iconic song "Tonight," navigate the conflict between the Jets and Sharks, and fall in love with a man named Tony (played by Ansel Elgort). It also seems like they are going on a gritty and realistic vibe, a departure from the original 1961 film by Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins. Most importantly, we get to see a glimpse of some of the musical numbers which look lively.

The upcoming film will also be Zegler's on-screen debut and a showcase of her talent which has been recognized already by Hollywood as she is set to have a major role in the DCEU film Shazam! Fury of the Gods (where she will reportedly play one of the daughters of Atlas) and is set to portray Snow White in Disney's live-action adaptation of the animated classic. Based on the trailer alone, we're already getting an idea of why she is getting cast on high-profile films already and why we should watch out for her rising career in Hollywood. Her acting and singing skills were definitely the highlights of the trailer.
