Shark Tank's own Mr. Wonderful aka Kevin O'Leary has unique tastes when it comes to watches. He doesn't merely collect them for the sake of his wealth, but it's an interesting investment that he uses on a day-to-day basis. Here's why.
How Many Watches Does Shark Tank's Mr. Wonderful Usually Wear?
Shark Tank's multi-million dollar Mr. Wonderful can't get enough of watches.
The timepieces are meant to be a part of statement fashion, apart from telling the time, but Kevin O'Leary also stated the crucial thing of why he wears two watches at a time.
In a recent interview with the Wrist Enthusiast, O'Leary explained that he now wears two at a time. One has New York time, while the other is set to synchronize with Abu Dhabi's time. The reason behind it is pretty logical.
"I have so many people working with me now in Abu Dhabi," O'Leary explained, "I don't like to wake them up at 2 in the morning 'cause I keep forgetting how many hours it's shifted."
However, O'Leary doesn't actually only wear 2 watches a day — he wears six.
"I will often wear six different pieces: 2 in the morning, 2 at lunch, and switch out for nighttime," O'Leary said, while also admitting he had "never sold a piece" from his watch collection.
"I have too many," he mentioned in an interview with CNBC Make It, "Even now, I can't get through all of them anymore."
Why Does Kevin O'Leary Own a Collection of Watches? Explained
It's not so much as to flash his wealth as much as what watches truly mean to O'Leary. Apart from his appreciation for growing a unique collection, he also gets to meet watchmakers who value his collecting journey.
"I do it for a specific reason. I've learned over the decades that the reason I get unique opportunities with all kinds of unique watchmakers is they know I'm a true collector," he explained.
"[The collection]'s a one-way ticket," he continued, "It comes into the collection, it's never leaving the collection. I've had insane offers [but] I can't replace them."
