Shannon Sharpe was recently charged in rape and battery lawsuits, but his lawyers have released explicit messages allegedly from the accuser that suggest the relationship was consensual.
The complainant, his ex-girlfriend Gabriella Zuniga, is seeking $50 million in damages from the NFL Hall of Famer, claiming he assaulted her multiple times between 2024 and 2025.

Shannon Sharpe has responded to his ex-girlfriend Gabriella Zuniga, who’s charging him in a sexual assault case, by revealing explicit texts allegedly from her.
Such examples of these text messages, released by his legal team, revealed her desires to engage in bondage play with him, such as wanting to use handcuffs, getting choked, and being tied up like the woman in a picture shown in a compromising pose.
In one of her messages sent in March 2023, Sharpe’s lawyers claim she said, “I wanna be abused daddy.”
Another text that indicates their closeness is when she allegedly said, “I’m getting your name tattooed on me in like an hour btw. Just thought I’d let you know.”
Zuniga’s texts, as presented by Sharpe’s lawyers, were all sent between 2023 and 2024, which she claims was during a consensual relationship. Her complaint says the Club Shay Shay host met her at a gym in LA when she was 20 years old.
She states she cut ties with Sharpe after finding out that he had sex with another woman, something that was revealed when he accidentally went live on Instagram in September.
The former NFL player posted an update immediately after the live, claiming it wasn’t him and that his Instagram account had been hacked.
However, Sharpe’s lawyers said the former couple had continued their relationship until January 2, 2025. Before parting ways, Sharpe greeted her with a Happy New Year and added, “Give 50k and I’ll let you come over to the house.”
Zuniga allegedly responded by sending a not-safe-for-work photo of herself. “I know u miss this big juicy ass…$25k for each cheek.”

Shannon Sharpe is dealing with serious accusations from his former girlfriend, who stated in her civil lawsuit that they had a “rocky” relationship, with him being abusive for two years.
However, the Night Cap Show co-host’s lawyers said that the graphic messages sent by the complainant tell a different story. “The evidence paints a clear picture: this was a consensual, adult relationship that included role-playing, sexual language, and fantasy scenarios.”
Zuniga claimed that after finding out about Sharpe’s alleged cheating with another woman during the accidental Instagram live, she attempted to break up with him, only to be allegedly sexually assaulted by the angry ex-football player.
The second instance, according to the plaintiff, happened in January when Sharpe visited her and said he was bringing a Christmas gift, but ended up sexually violating her once again.
The Night Cap Show co-host posted his attorney Lanny J. Davis’s statement on Instagram, describing the case as “a blatant and cynical attempt to shake down Mr. Sharpe for millions of dollars,” considering she is asking for $50 million in damages for allegedly raping and assaulting her.
Zuniga’s civil complaint is being handled by Tony Buzbee, who is known for representing high-profile clients like Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs. Similar to the accuser’s case, he also represented the women who filed sexual harassment and sexual misconduct charges against another NFL player, Deshaun Watson.
