Severance has now taken over the reign as the most-watched TV series on Apple TV+ surpassing the hit comedy Ted Lasso.

The series made its triumphant return last month with the long-awaited second season, continuing the twists and turns for our favorite characters within the Lumon Industries building.

Apple TV+ Reveals Severance is Now the Platform's Most-Watched TV Series

It was recently confirmed that Severance has officially taken the spot as the most-watched TV series on Apple TV+.

The exciting news comes as the second season is currently airing and is already primed to be a major contender at the Emmy Awards later this year.

The streamer revealed that the series has broken records on the platform since it is now their #1 series in history based on the number of unique viewers from Jan. 17 through Feb. 17, 2025.

The second season premiere has also been a major driver of sign-ups, fueling a +126% increase in new subscribers between Jan. 1-19, 2025 vs. Dec. 1-19, 2024. It includes the Jan. 3-5 free weekend where non-subscribers were able to sample the original shows.

Midway into its second season, Severance already has amassed more viewers than any other Apple TV+ series and becoming the #1 most-watched series globally with top markets including the U.S., UK, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Germany, France, Mexico, and Spain. It surpassed all three seasons of Ted Lasso combined.

What to Expect in the Rest of Severance Season 2

As most series viewers know, Severance season 2 is full of twists and turns as they unfold the mystery behind the inner workings of Lumon Industries.

In the most recent episode, the MDR team is dealing with the firing of Irving while Mark has trust issues with Helly after learning that her outie is Helena Eagan, the daughter of Lumon Industries CEO Jame Eagan.

The series follows Mark Scout as he leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure, which surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives.

The daring experiment in “work-life balance” is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work (and of himself).

In season 2, Mark and his friends learn the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe.
