Just months after the release of Scream (2022), the fifth entry in the hugely popular meta slasher series, and Scream 6 (working title) has already been confirmed. So here is the Scream 6 release date, studios, where to watch, trailer and everything you need to know.
Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Scream (2022)!
What is Scream 6 About?
While it's likely we will get some synopsis details in the coming months, given the fact the movie is just under a year out from release, currently there's nothing to go by, other than returning actors and creative talent.
In January this year, Neve Campbell, as well as the directors of the fifth movie, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, expressed an interest in returning for a sequel, so it looks like we'll get to see Sidney Prescott for a sixth time.
In March, Courteney Cox confirmed that she will be returning as Gale Weathers, and also said that she had already received the script, while stating that production is set for Canada in June this year.
David Arquette, however, who plays Dewey Riley in all five films, won't be returning, as he is brutally killed off in Scream (2022). With that said, death didn't stop Skeet Ulrich from reprising his role as Billy Loomis in the sequel.
The sixth film will likely be another sequel, and in true Scream fashion, will continue its meta-commentary on the wider horror genre. The original 1996 movie reinterpreted the tired tropes and cliches of slasher movies as "rules".
Its 1997 sequel, Scream 2, deconstructed the idea of sequels and laid out a new set of rules. Scream 3 (1999) referenced many trilogy-topping movies as "going back to the beginning to reveal something that wasn't true from the get-go".
Scream 4 (2011) made last-minute attempts to analyze the then-modern remake, while the latest movie tried to cast a lens over toxic fandoms. However, neither script was anywhere near as smart as those of the original trilogy.
Either way, where Scream could go from here remains a mystery - but isn't that the whole point?

Scream 6 Trailer
Unfortunately, a trailer for Scream 6 doesn't exist yet, because production isn't set to begin until June this year. However, as news unfolds, we'll be sure to keep this article updated, so keep checking in!
Plenty of speculation will follow the announcement of Scream 6, the heart of which will involve returning cast members. We know that Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox will be returning, but who else might make a comeback?
Scream (2022) survivors include Tara Carpenter (Jenna Ortega), Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera), Chad Meeks (Mason Gooding), and Mindy Meeks (Jasmin Savoy Brown), so it's possible they could return.
As for who the new Ghostface (or Ghostfaces) could be, your guess is as good as ours! However, the latest sequel did hint towards its main character, Sam, potentially being the next one to don the mask and voice changer.
Sam is the illegitimate daughter of Billy Loomis, one of the killers in the original film. While she's the main protagonist of the latest film, she has hallucinations of her father, and even shows many Ghostface-like traits throughout the film...
