Scavengers Reign delighted many sci-fi fans in late 2023 with its intriguing story and disturbing themes. With the first season being well received, the question is whether Scavengers Reign will get a season 2 and a release date announcement soon.
As the series ended back in November 2023, it should be all but certain that we won’t get a second season this year. After all, animated shows like these typically take well over a year to get a new season.
Scavengers Reign Season 2 Release Date Predictions
The sci-fi horror series Scavengers Reign premiered on Max in October 2023, and it got 12 episodes in total for season 1.
As with most streaming-exclusive shows, the series had a unique release schedule. Every week, three episodes were released, meaning its final three episodes were available in early November.
Following its finale, the show got rave reviews from critics and fans. Despite its success reception-wise, there has been no word on plans for a second season.
If it does get a second season, we’ll likely see it get released in mid-2025 at the earliest. After all, even if it gets renewed in the coming weeks, it will likely need a year at the minimum to produce a new season.
Perhaps the bigger question is if Scavengers Reign is getting a new season, especially given the potential issues it may face.
Series’ Max Cancelation Prompts Fears of More Issues
While the series premiered on Max, Scavengers Reign was canceled in May 2024. Shortly after, it was announced that Netflix had acquired the rights to the first season.
Because of this, the first season will soon be streamed on Netflix, though there was no word on plans for season 2.
Netflix may wait and see if there’s enough interest in the series before a second season is greenlit.
On the flip side, the fact that Netflix acquired the first season seems to indicate that there is at least an intention to give it another season.
After all, Netflix has a strong roster of sci-fi shows, including 3 Body Problem, which got renewed recently.
Hopefully, that is the case for Scavengers Reign given that the first season’s ending is open for a continuation.
What Could Scavengers Reign Season 2 Be About?
Scavengers Reign season 1 ended on a bittersweet note for most of the remaining characters, though perhaps the most interesting potential future story is Levi, who is now half-robot and half-plant.
Aside from what happens to Levi in the shuttle, it’ll also be interesting to see what will happen to the rest of the characters who must survive on the planet.
Given these, it’s likely that a potential second season will explore more storylines, with fans hoping to see more about the series’ universe outside the planet Vesta.
