Scarlett Johansson revealed that she is not interested in joining Instagram anytime soon despite the pressure from the studio to help promote an upcoming movie.
The Oscar-nominated actress remains one of the top A-listers in Hollywood who still don't have a social media footprint despite their global popularity. That is unlikely to change anytime soon as she is still adamant that she won't be joining the online world.
Scarlett Johansson Refuses to Join Instagram After She Was Asked by the Studio
In a recent interview, Johansson shared that Universal Pictures recently asked her to join Instagram as part of the promotional campaign for Jurassic World Rebirth.
She turned down the offer as she is not interested in participating in social media and questioned whether she can stay true to herself if she joins a platform.
"I mean, even today, I got an email from Universal [Pictures], and they're like, ‘Hey, would you consider joining Instagram in tandem with the release of Jurassic World Rebirth?’ [I] get a lot of pressure to join social media," the Oscar nominee said.
"Is there a way where I could do this and stay true to who I am? It didn’t feel like I could. The work that I put out there is all based in truth. That’s the key ingredient."
Johansson added, "So if I was a person who really enjoyed social media, then I could totally get on the bandwagon. But I’m not. And I think the film will do fine."
Scarlett Johansson Stars in Jurassic World Rebirth
Jurassic World Rebirth will mark Johansson's next big-screen project and debut in the Jurassic franchise.
Anchored by Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali, the action-packed new chapter sees an extraction team race to the most dangerous place on Earth, an island research facility for the original Jurassic Park, inhabited by the worst of the worst that were left behind.
Johansson will play the role of skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett, who was contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure a genetic material.
When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos, they all find themselves stranded on a forbidden island that had once housed an undisclosed research facility for Jurassic Park.
The film is slated to release in theaters this July 2.
