A new report claimed that Marvel Studios is now actively developing a Scarlet Witch solo movie as part of their future theatrical slate.
The fan-favorite character played by Elizabeth Olsen was last seen at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness where she presumably "died" after her face-off against the Sorcerer Supreme.
Since then, fans have been wondering whether Olsen's Scarlet Witch will make more MCU appearances in the future whether it's finally starring in her solo movie or serving as a supporting character in another project.
Marvel Studios Reportedly Developing a Scarlet Witch Solo Movie
According to a newly posted listing in Production Weekly, Marvel Studios is currently developing a solo Scarlet Witch movie that will potentially be released in 2026.
WandaVision writers Jac Schaeffer and Megan McDonnell are attached to pen the screenplay. Olsen is set to reprise her fan-favorite role.
So far, Marvel Studios has not confirmed the claims in the listing or announced the project's existence so take this with a grain of salt for now.
If it ends up being true, it is exciting news for many fans who have been looking forward to seeing the character get her own solo movie and become the main focus of the story.
After all, Olsen's Scarlet Witch has become one of the most beloved characters in the MCU in the past few years and she has proven with WandaVision that she can effectively star in her own project.
There are also a lot of ways that they can explore the Scarlet Witch in the future of the MCU and it is clear that her journey is far from death even if she seemingly "died" in her last appearance.
For now, let's wait and see whether Marvel Studios will eventually confirm the project's development soon and hopefully we will get the updates sooner rather than later.
