Sarah Michelle Gellar has confirmed the reports that a sequel series to the iconic series Buffy the Vampire Slayer is currently in the works.
It was reportedly recently that Hulu is nearing a pilot order for a sequel series that will revisit the beloved world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer with Gellar slated to reprise her iconic role.

In her recent post on Instagram, Gellar acknowledged the reports that a sequel series to Buffy the Vampire Slayer is in the works and assured fans that she is involved in its development process.
She shared the story of how she was approached about the project a few years ago and the conversations that continued since then. She also promised that they are heading towards the right path on the idea of revisiting the iconic series.
"I have always listened to the fans and heard your desire to revisit Buffy and her world, but it was not something I could do unless I was sure we would get it right," the actress wrote in her post.
"This has been a long process, and it’s not over yet. I promise you, we will only make this show if we know we can do it right. And I will tell you that we are on the path there."
Gellar concluded in her lengthy post, "I feel so lucky to be on this journey with these four unbelievably talented women, all of whom love Buffy as much as I do. And as much as you do. Thank you to all the fans who never stopped asking for this. This will be for you."
What to Expect in Buffy the Vampire Slayer Sequel Series
According to reports, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer sequel series will focus on a new teenage vampire slayer.
Gellar is in final talks to reprise her iconic role of Buffy Summers. She will only join as a recurring player and is not expected to be a series regular. She is also involved as one of the executive producers.
Poker Face's Nora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckerman will serve as the showrunners, writers, and executive producers of the project. Oscar winner Chloe Zhao is also attached to executive produce and direct the pilot.
Original series showrunner Joss Whedon is NOT expected to be involved in the project following the allegations of a toxic workplace environment from cast members a few years ago.
