Saoirse Ronan recently addressed the rumors that she was previously in talks to join the MCU for a fan-favorite role.
It was rumored a while ago that the Lady Bird star was offered to play Yelena Belova in Black Widow. As we all know, she turned down the opportunity and the role ended up going to Florence Pugh.
There is no doubt that it would have been great if a caliber of talent such as Ronan was part of the MCU in a role that is now considered to be one of the key characters in the current saga of the franchise.
Saoirse Ronan Addresses Rumored Yelena Belova Casting Offer in the MCU
Ronan was asked about the rumors that she was in talks to play Yelena Belova in the MCU in a recent interview.
However, she played coy in her response as she didn't confirm that she received an offer to potentially join the franchise.
"How did you hear about that? I don't know," the Oscar nominee said with a laugh.
Ronan went on to clarify that she is very much interested in joining a major blockbuster project, but she is currently not eyeing to become part of the MCU as she would rather get involved in James Bond.
"I can't see myself doing Marvel. I don't. No. I would prefer to do Bond. There is nothing wrong with that. And I think they're brilliant films," she explained.
"I want to do more big movies, especially after seeing Greta [Gerwig] make Barbie. I want to do that. Of course, I want to do that stuff."
The actress' remarks might be bad news for fans who may have wanted to see her join the MCU as she has confirmed that she is not interested in joining the franchise anytime soon.
In the end, things still went in the right direction as Pugh has proven in her past MCU appearances that she is the right actress for the role of Yelena Belova and it's hard to imagine another actress playing her.
