If you are an anime fan who is keeping up with the Winter 2022 season, perhaps you may have heard of Sabikui Bisco. Set in a post-apocalyptic version of Japan, the world is affected by a disease called Rusting, apparently caused by mushroom spores. People and places are covered in rust, and for the humans affected by this disease, it may even lead to their death.

The story revolves around Akaboshi Bisco, a Mushroom Keeper. Using his archery skills, he shoots arrows that grow mushrooms everywhere. Due to this, he's considered a wanted criminal even though mushrooms are actually the solution to solving the Rusting.

While in the city, he meets a doctor named Nekoyanagi Milo, and they become partners. The two of them set out on a journey searching for the Rust Eater mushroom, which apparently consumes all forms of rust. (And to make it even more fun, their animal companion/form of transportation is a giant crab named Actagawa!)

Aside from giant crabs, the show also has a lot of unusual animal hybrids that will surely pique your interest. The show has quite the following, currently with a decent score of 7.48 on MyAnimeList.

Furthermore, if you're the type to follow Japanese voice actors, then you'll definitely hear a few familiar voices. The cast includes Suzuki Ryouta (Ishigami in Kaguya-sama: Love Is War) as Bisco and Hanae Natsuki (Tanjiro in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) as Milo. The supporting cast includes Kondou Reina as Pawoo, Tomita Miyu as Tirol, Saitou Shirou as Jabi, and Tsuda Kenjiro as Kurokawa.
